I’ve come to think that being smart isn’t determined by how well we do in our examinations. In fact, I would think intellect at it’s highest manifestation is creativity.
We live in a world that is so gripped by geniuses and the most common question is, “How did they do it?” Imagine asking that aloud with utmost enthusiasm.
I believe we overrate the power to analyse and conclude. Fundamentally, it’s a basic tool of thinking. The norm is to consider people with such strength as “brilliant” but I would play it down a little and call it “clever”. They are kind of the people who are resourceful and can look out of the box with a new perspective, possibly coming out with a fantastic solution. No doubt they are smarter than the average being, but they are not brilliant.
I think a normal person, lacking any significant mental disability, should be able to analyse. It is basic thinking. What I would consider a person as “brilliant” would be someone who can reinvent. They are the world leaders in various fields spreading across InfoTech, like Steve Jobs, to sports, like Lionel Messi, to business, like Donald Trump. They bring their field to a whole new level. They are brilliant people, unlike many others who are “just” accomplished.
Then, we go on to the highest level of thinking. This is a group of people I would consider as genius. I believe geniuses are people who create with what the already know. People like Ronaldinho, who created many football tricks, are now copied by so many such as C.Ronaldo and Nani. People like J.K Rowling, who created the Harry Potter Universe. People like Albert Einstein who discovered and prove so many theories, which are now studied by so many across the Earth. These are the people that don’t just shake their field like the “world of science” or the “world of entertainment”. These are people that are literally, “planet shakers”.
I think there are flaws in my theory but oh well, I needed to vomit all these out. By the way, you should watch the latest Chick vs Dick episode. I was quite impressed as the latest challenge was so much bolder and interesting. Here’s the link:
